Alberto Acereda, has published a new essay entitled Rubén Darío, Masonería y Cataluña with the publishing house Letras Inquietas.

In Rubén Darío, Freemasonry and Catalonia, the author explains how the Nicaraguan poet was interested, during his time in Barcelona, in the politics and culture of Spain in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. In this essay, he analyzes the opinions that Darío left about it and that are today of great validity and modernity. In addition, the work explains Rubén Darío’s relationship with Freemasonry and the first nationalist movements that emerged in Catalonia as well as a vision of them and the way of understanding Modernism in its multiple connections with heterodox movements.

Among other different academic positions, Alberto Acereda has been a Professor, Director of the Department of Hispanic Languages and Literatures and Dean Fellow at the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Arizona State University (United States). He is also a member of the American Academy of the Spanish Language, linked to the Royal Spanish Academy. Author of numerous articles and books of research and literary criticism, mainly focused on literary modernism and late 19th century, Alberto Acereda is considered one of the leading experts in Rubén Darío.
